User Interface Updates

The KeyShot 7 user interface has a clean, new look with completely new ways to customize menus, windows, hotkeys and create workspaces. Among this, there are some commands/options that have been added, renamed or have changed location compared to KeyShot 6. This section captures those changes.


  • "Show Only" for animations in the Timeline.

  • Name field removed from Camera tab.

  • Delete key shortcut in Scene Tree (parts, cameras, animations, Model Sets)

  • Search field in part selection dialog

  • Parts renamed to “Item” in Scene Tree

  • Collapse/expand in Scene Tree is now recursive, removal of Collapse All

  • Automatically expand models when a Scene Tree filter is selected

  • Edit Geometry command in Edit menu

  • Scene Tree object preview tooltips

  • Scene Tree visibility icons

  • Ability to name nodes in Material Graph

  • Preferences “Lock Pivot to Target” option for camera.

  • Real-time View Background Brightness moved from Preferences to right-click menu

  • Move Tool on Ribbon and Geometry View Ribbon

  • Region button on Ribbon.

  • Preview of old color in color picker while maintaining new color

  • Added tumble, pan and dolly to the camera menu.

  • Add to Queue button in Render Output and Options pages.

  • Ability to Move Active Camera and Move Active Camera Target in Geometry View

  • Update of Texture Type categories

  • Right click on material graph node connector to insert utility

  • Samples count in status bar of render output window for Maximum Samples and Maximum Time render modes.

  • Updated Lighting Presets

  • Hotkey to activate Free Camera (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+F)

  • Hotkey to move a selected object (Cmd/Ctrl+D)

  • Hotkey to copy paste in Scene Tree or Animation Timeline (Cmd/Ctrl+C, Cmd/Ctrl+V)

  • Hotkey to add Ground Plane (Cmd/Ctrl+G)

  • Hotkey to toggle Region Render (Shift+Ctrl/Cmd+R)

  • Copy/Paste Position in Scene Tree context menu

  • Select "Look At" Point is now called Set Camera Target.

  • Enter First Person Mode has been renamed to Walkthrough Mode.

  • Walkthrough Mode HUD has a new layout to include Collision Detection and Sensitivity
