Server Error: Invalid Mac Address (HostID)

Reason: The Mac Address (or HostID) in the license file does not match your computer’s active mac address (or HostID).

How To Fix It:

On Windows PC

On Mac OS X

1. Open your license file with any text editor (e.g. Notepad, Notedpad ++) and look at the SERVER line.  Make a note of the expected Mac Address.  This is a 12-digit hexadecimal number.

2.  Launch the Command prompt (cmd.exe) and type the following command:  ipconfig /all

Press Enter and you will see a list of devices; each listed with its corresponding mac address (aka Physical Address).

3. Once you find a match for the mac address in your license file, you will want to turn on/connect that device (i.e. turn on Wi-Fi and connect to a network or connect ethernet cable).

Note:  If you found a typo in the license file or wish to use another device, then skip to step 7 below.

4.  Close and re-open Luxion License Server Configurator.  Then, click Start Server in the Install License tab.

5. Click Service Status. Your license server’s status will appear in the service status window. The service status window will tell you how many seats are available and how many seats have been issued.  You can now open KeyShot on your client computer (ignore steps 7 and 8 below).

6.  If it does not start, you will need a new license file.  Send an email to license@luxion.com describing the error. Please make sure to specify which Mac Address to use in your new license.  Also, you will want to attach your current license file to your email.

7. Once you receive your new license file, you can follow the license replacement instructions.

1. Click OK and go to the Request License tab.  Make a note of the Mac Address.

2. Open your System Preferences application.

3. Go to Network and select a device: Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

4.  Click Advanced, Hardware for that device and check the Mac Address.  Once you find a match for the mac address in Step 1 above, you will want to turn on/connect that device (i.e. turn on Wi-Fi and connect to a network or connect ethernet cable).

Note:  If you found a typo in the license file or wish to use another device, then skip to step 7 below.

5.  Close and re-open KeyShot License Manager.  Then, click Start Server in the Install License tab.

6. Click Service Status. Your license server’s status will appear in the service status window. The service status window will tell you how many seats are available and how many seats have been issued.  You can now open KeyShot on your client computer (ignore steps 7 and 8 below).

7.  If it does not start, you will need a new license file.  Go back to KeyShot License Manager and fill the request form.  Click Email and send an email to license@luxion.com describing the error. Please make sure to specify which Mac Address to use in your new license.  Also, you will want to attach your current license file to your email.

8. Once you receive your new license file, you can follow the license replacement instructions.
